Dear Community, Just wondering if anyone of you encountered an issue when setting up storage limits for users / groups / OUs after the pooled storage feature has been enabled in Business Starter licenses?
A quick background, we're trying to manage the storage limits of users so they don't go over on the allowable capacity by setting a policy via User Storage Limit. 10% of the users will have 130GB and 90% will have the default 30GB.
Apparently, there were users who already exceeded the 30GB limit prior to planning this policy and it seems Google Workspace dynamically set odd storage limits such as 32GB or 128GB. Example, a user with a current capacity of 27.02GB states the Storage Limit for user is ON (32GB) and is inherited from OU - but the entire OU has a maximum limit of 30GB only and we added 1 group to use 130GB as their limit. There are no other OUs / Groups with storage limits.
The question is, why is Google automatically setting storage limits for those who are over the limit set by a policy via Group / OU? Like, it is not honoring what you are setting. On a test account that we manage that has 1 user, if we change the storage limit to just 15MB (and the user has 50MB currently in total storage) - we are getting the message:
"One user's storage may exceed the 15 MB storage limit you're about to turn on. They'll be unable to upload files until they free up space. It can take up to 24 hours to update storage data, so user storage data you see may not always reflect real-time information."
I'm expecting to get the same message on the production Google Workspace account when we set the entire OU's storage limit to 30GB for the users who are already over AND enforce that limit - but doesn't seem to like it.
To add context, here's the same admin asking the same question in stack exchange - https://webapps.stackexchange.com/questions/171700/google-storage-limits-not-applying-to-users-group...
