Single user admin, storage maxed with photos

Can anyone help me?

Purchased workspace through Wix.com for a business email.  But all 30gb of storage is filled with my personal Google Photos.  I've chatted with Wix, with Workspace, and with Google One (personal Google account), and no one can help me.  I've turned off Google Photos, so I'm not even sure why it's counting toward my Workspace storage.  It's turned OFF.  The closest someone on chat got was suggesting that the shared Drive be unsynced.  There is nothing in my Google Drive to sync.

I'm just confused.  I thought purchasing a Workspace account meant this would be a fresh account from which to send and receive emails for my small business.  I don't even know how my personal Google account got linked to it.  Nor do I know how to unlink it.  I don't know why my photos are even related given that photos are turned off for workspace.  None of it makes any sense to me.  Google One tells me it's impossible and to chat with Workspace.  Workspace tells me to chat with the reseller, Wix.  Wix has so far been the most helpful (ironic!), but still they seem to think I'm crazy.

Can someone who understands what it's like to be a single, non-tech-savvy individual please take ten minutes to guide me on how to fix this?  I'd like to keep my business email address and I have some important emails I need to address there.  I don't want to purchase more storage because I don't think I'll need more than 30gb for my small business.  HELP!!!

Please, anyone, help me,

Mike T.

See https://support.google.com/a/answer/9214707?hl=en#zippy=%2Cwhat-counts-toward-storage-what-doesnt for how your storage is calculated. Google Photos counts towards your storage, even if you have it turned off. To recover that storage, you'll need to turn it on, go to photos, and delete stuff there.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Thanks Ian for the reply. So that I understand correctly, when one purchases a subscription to workspace, by DEFAULT all their personal previous Google Photos over on a Google One account are ALSO stored inside this new Workspace account? And in order to use the new Workspace account, ie send and receive business email for their business, they have to somehow get rid of or move enough of their personal photos stored in their personal Google One account so that less than 30gb is used in their separate Workspace account? I have another Google account that isn’t even “allowed” to use Google Photos; should I just use that account and somehow remove my main account from Workspace? Will someone at Wix be able to guide me on that if that’s the proper solution for using the Workspace subscription?

Related question: why does Workspace and One allow google accounts to interact with one another—basically out of necessity even— yet when there’s a technical issue that arises, Workspace support and One support suddenly have no idea how the other product relates? I find it hard to believe that the experts for these google products are left completely in the dark in regards to how their products interact. I am a Google One subscriber, and my account defaults somehow as the only user under my Workspace account, which is managed by a different google account (the business email for which Workspace was purchased), yet when I brought up this storage issue to someone at Google One, they told me they couldn’t help me because it was a Workspace product, and someone at Workspace told me they couldn’t look into why my personal Google account was even linked to workspace because my personal Google account is a paying Google One subscriber. And both sent me pages that simply instructed me to reach out to the reseller. How is Wix.com an authority on Google products? Aren’t they just the retailer helping Workspace sell subscriptions? That’s like Target being the only party that can assist with Pixel phone issues when a customer buys a Pixel phone from them.

It blows my mind.
