I am using squarespace as the DNS server. The instructions in squarespace states that if you want to maintain the url so the DNS does not change - you should use POINTING vs FORWARDING. The google workspace instructions are given for forward with the disclaimer for squarespace (of course). To point - the instructions want DNS A records created with the IP addresses of the servers.
I need to maintain the custom DNS in the url path name - i don't want the url to read google.sites.blah. Is there a clear set of instructions of what to enter into squarespace? Or at least what ip addresses to use for google to make this happen?
I have forwarding working now - but the URL changes and the customer has noticed and is "not happy".
Thank you
From the site - squarespace so i want to maintain the custom domain name in the url.
@Rhonda if your site is private then that's the intended behaviour: the custom domain only remains visible if the site is public: Map a Custom URL in Google Workspace - Google Sites.
@Rhonda what's the sites.google.com URL and the custom domain URL?
