Transfer domain to own Workspace

I had set a domain in my old legacy workspace that I now want remove from that legacy work space and put in its own workspace so that its nothing to do with my old worksapce.

How can I transfer that domain so that they do not loose all emails, I dont care so much about documents and so, but the emails are the main thing that must be transferred.

Once transferred they are happy to pay the normal workspace costs. I just need to remove them from my old legacy account.

I am assuming that your domain if the Primary domain in the Google Workspace, if that is correct they will need to add another secondary domain to the Google Workspace. They can purchase a domain of their choice.

Their new Primary domain would then need to be promoted to be the Primary Domain, any user accounts using your old domain would need to be changed so that their primary login domain is the new domain.

Once you have done this, you can simply remove your old domain. There are things to be aware of, such as where people have used their username@old.domain.com for authentication for other applications/services. Also if they are using Chromebooks or Meet devices they will need to re register with the new domain. Mobile devices might need to be set-up again.

Once you have removed your old domain, you can then use that to sign up for a New Google Workspace account.

Note: some legacy additions do not support promoting of a new Primary domain. if unsure check with google Support.
