Using Indent Ribbon in GDocs

This is a question about use of the indent ribbon located at the top of a GDoc.  Does anybody know how to click and drag the upside-down triangle (left indent) separate from the rectangular upper portion (first line indent)?  I can click and drag the rectangle separately, but can never click and drag the triangle separately.  In other words, I have to drag the whole rectangle/triangle unit together to the appropriate spot.  Then click and drag the rectangle on its own.  But there are times I'd rather leave the rectangle where it is, and just move the triangle; but that doesn't seem to be an option.  Maybe holding down a function key and then clicking/dragging the triangle?  But I can't seem to find that answer anywhere when typing into a Google search.  Ty!

Simply move them both then move the rectangle (first line indent) back:

This is by design because the first line indent (rectangle) is relative to the left indent (triangle) which is absolute.

Yes.  As per my post, I already do that.

I was wondering if there was a work-around b/c it's a pita.
