Which rule takes over when you give access to certain folders and files?

If I give someone access to a folder as 'editor' but a file in this folder has a rule that only people individually invited can edit it. Which rule overrides the other one?

Will the person that has access to the folder still be able to edit the restricted file?

When a file is placed in a folder anyone shared on the folder is automatically added to the new file.  If you change the permissions of a file to have fewer privileges then a notification will pop up telling you that you must change the parent folder permissions. Screenshot below.

I'm not familiar with the option for "only people individually invited can edit it."

"only people individually invited can edit it" - Only people whose email was invited to edit over using the option 'anyone with the link can edit'.
