Workspace Troubles

I am going to try my best to not make this sound confusing. I was recently given primary superuser access to our companies workspace account. I was cleaning up old users (deleting their user accounts to free up licenses). I wasn't thinking at the time that one of the user's I deleted was the primary author of a Google Sheet document. Some of my employee's, as well as myself, can't access those documents as that user doesn't exist anymore to grant access.

I recreated his email address and made it so i could log in (used a different password). Now I am unsure if the documents are re-connecting with the newly updated address.

Is there someone here that can give me some tips to help restore access to this document.

Thank you

Check out https://support.google.com/a/answer/1397578 for how to recover a recently deleted user.

Also, a tip going forward: itโ€™s a really good idea to use Shared Drives, not My Drive, for anything that needs to stick around beyond the tenure of any one person in the organization, to avoid situations like this. See https://support.google.com/a/users/answer/7212025 for more on that.

Hope that helps,

Ian

Thank you for the reply. I have done that, and I am still unable to access the documents that were created by this user. Is there any other way around this to restore access. There are only a few documents that I need, one of which is rather important.

Thank you very much
