Re: gemini and new Samsung phones

Samsung just released their new phones with Gemini integration, and users with Workspace accounts as their primary phone account lost the ability to trigger the assistant with "Hey Google" and control apps and services like playing music. They can temporarily switch back to Google Assistant, but once they press the right button, it activates Gemini as the primary assistant app, and "Hey Google" breaks again. Is there a workaround for this issue? Adding a regular Gmail account is not an option.

I can confirm that the described issue only occurs for Workspace accounts and it is not related to the phone brand. I have a Google Pixel and I have exactly the same problem when the Workspace account is selected. If I switch the account to a personal one in the Google app, "Hey Google" immediately starts responding normally - Gemini overlay appears. For Workspace accounts still works the swipe up from the bottom corner gesture (if you have it enabled in Settings in Gesture navigation). I think this strange behavior started when Google included Gemini (Google AI) in Workspace plans at the beginning of this year. It seems they somehow broke Gemini's integration with the legacy Google Assistant (for users logged in with Workspace accounts). All settings related to Gemini-Assistant integration are missing in Gemini app when you are logged in with Workspace account. If you switch to personal Google account in Gemini app, all these settings appear back.

What I wanted to say is that the new Samsung is deeply integrated with Gemini now. You could remove it in the past and use Google Assistant, but now it is deeply integrated with the phone and even physical buttons, so it keeps turning on and even automatically switches settings back to use Gemini.
