iOS User Enrolment - stuck in a loop

I tested the new (beta) user enrolment feature and was not able to get it to work. I have already federated my domain and connected it to workspace as I already use Apple Business Manager and another MDM provider for desktop devices (Mosyle).

For my test user's OU I enabled 'advanced management' and 'user enrolment'. Attempting to login to Gmail on iOS as this user required me to install the profile. I followed all the steps to install the profile and it seemed to install successfully. In my iOS settings I can see the profile and everything looks great.

Going back to Gmail I am prompted to decide which accounts I want on my device (it lists personal accounts alongside the managed one). Attempting to enable the managed GW account starts the process all over again โ€“ I am asked to download the profile that I have already installed. It gets stuck in a loop.

I have tried removing the profile and reinstalling, deleting and reinstalling Gmail. Nothing seems to work. Has anyone got this working? Am I doing something wrong or is this why the feature is labeled as Beta?

ALSO: Is there an official channel or contact for Beta features in Google Workspace?

The only way I can fix this is by uninstalling the app and then having the app installed from the Google Device Policy app. Which isn't a great UX for the end user.
