How Do I Import an AI Voice?

I have a hard time reading large amounts of text and I have a program that reads it aloud. The problem is that all the voices are robotic and hard to understand. I found a menu that lets you import voices with an API key, so I looked up google voice api key and ended up signing up for google cloud. I'm not a business, I dont understand anything in the menus, I clicked on one option and it tried to charge my card for 2500 dollars but luckily I don't have enough money in my account. I just want a natural text to speech voice that I can understand. I don't want any of this. Please help.

Hi @LostTony,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

Given your experience with Google Cloud and your need for a natural-sounding text-to-speech solution, here are some specific recommendations:

  1. Cancel Unwanted Services: Immediately review your Google Cloud account and cancel any services you do not intend to use. This will help prevent unexpected charges. You can find this option in the Google Cloud Console under the "Billing" section.
  2. Set Up Billing Alerts: To avoid unexpected charges in the future, set up billing alerts in your Google Cloud account. This will notify you if your usage approaches certain thresholds.
  3. Documentation: Spend some time familiarizing yourself with Text-to-Speech documentation and tutorials.
  4. Use the Free Tier: Google Cloud offers a free tier for its Text-to-Speech API, which includes a limited number of characters per month at no cost. Make sure you are within these limits to avoid charges. The free tier can be found in the Google Cloud Console under "IAM & Admin" > "Quotas" or directly in this documentation.
  5. Explore Simplified Alternatives:
    • Google Cloud Text-to-Speech Demo: Google provides a web-based demo where you can test their TTS voices without needing to set up a billing account. This might help you evaluate if their voices meet your needs.
    • Google Assistant: For a simpler solution, you can use Google Assistant or Google Translate’s TTS feature on your device, which can provide natural-sounding voices for reading text.

  6. Seek Assistance: If you’re having trouble navigating the Google Cloud interface, consider reaching out to Google Cloud Support for help with your account settings and billing issues.

I hope the above information is helpful.
