so if I understand correctly. A start can use claude models at their own cost. cost is not covered by startup credit.

I'm recounting a true incident I experienced. I mistakenly believed my Google Cloud startup credits covered all services, including marketplace items like Claude and Claude 3.7. However, after using the Claude model, I discovered it wasn't covered and required credit card payment.
After contacting Google support, we learned that startup credits only cover Google-owned services. Since Claude and similar models in the Vertex marketplace aren't Google-owned, they aren't covered by the credits. Therefore, using Claude requires payment from your own funds.
