Api Developers Login - Force users to enter password rather than email login

Hi,

When logging in as a developer to a portal you are only prompted to ask for an email address. After that an email is sent asking you to login within a 10 min time frame.

Is there a way we can force a user to enter a password to enter a portal? I've read around and cannot find anything relevant to this.
