B2C App

Google AppSheet is incredibly powerful, comprehensive and versatile, wow, great job!
But the pricing model (and maybe also the app distribution model) make it more of an enterprise solution.

My question is, are there any plans to offer a sort of B2C variation of AppSheet in the future?
I get it, Glide is more suitable for B2C, and actually I tried it for myself and quickly created a couple of apps, but let's be honest, it pales in comparison to AppSheet... How cool would that be if AppSheet offered a B2C pricing model!

Hi @Bdub

"My question is, are there any plans to offer a sort of B2C variation of AppSheet in the future?"

AppSheet is more fit for a B2B model, I'm not aware og any change on this.

I know there is a "external user licensing" though.

You need to contact Sales Team for so. Be aware they may be slow to get back to you ! ๐Ÿ™‚

100% agree with you !

Hey @Bdub, thanks for the feedback. @Aurelien is right, functionality and pricing has mostly catered to B2B scenarios, but it's helpful to hear what would help share apps outside the org. If the concept of app 'unauthenticated visitors' were added, would it be valuable? Or only valuable if those external users are signing in to your app(s)?

Thanks @Aurelien - I havenโ€™t found anything about the โ€˜external user licensing modelโ€™ just yet but Iโ€™ll keep looking.

I like the thinking @peterdykstra, in the lines of what a direct-to-consumer offering could look like. There may be an avenue to explore in terms of functionalities indeed, as you aptly suggested, but the authentication is most likely needed I believe (thinking of a scenario where an application would offer different types of subs, hence requiring auth). Another avenue may be a sort of volume discount so, a certain price for the first 1k users and then a lower price for the next 10k, 100k, etc, something like that - There would still be a risk for the app maker if their app does not see much adoption though.
In terms of price point, an app would typically have a free version with basic content / functionality and then a paid version (typical price between $2 and $10 per month). Ratio between free and paid subs would be, I donโ€™t know, 80%-20% maybe - Just to give an idea as to how an app maker could at least avoid a big negative profitโ€ฆ

This is because it is not mentionned anywhere ๐Ÿ˜Š I have worked with a client who was facing a similar situation, and got in touch with Sales Team for him.

Due to respect for business practices, I just will say that the pricing is more adapted than the usual pricing. And, as it is for Enterprise plan, you need to engage for one year about a certain amount of licenses.
