Feature

Gemini in AppSheet Solutions for AppSheet Enterprise Plus is now generally available

Add Gemini-powered AI tasks in automations to extract information from an image, PDF document, or text; or categorize information--with more AI features to come. See Overview of AI in automations.

This feature is now available to app creators with Enterprise Plus licenses by default. You can define a governance policy to control which app creators can use AI in automations.

What's new since the preview release:

Extract information from text, such as a description
Choose whether to save to table or return values for use in subsequent steps
Support for Ref columns as input and output for Categorize AI and output for Extract AI
Improved error handling

Feature

Manage credits for Gemini usage is now generally available

When you use Gemini in AppSheet Solutions, you consume credits based on the number and complexity of AI tasks that are run by users of the apps owned by creators in your organization. For details, see Manage credits for Gemini usage.

Note: You will continue to have complimentary access to explore and learn the Gemini in AppSheet Solutions capabilities by using AI in automations. We plan to track usage against entitled credits in the future.

New in this release:

Distinguish between licenses used in a month and licenses assigned
View the reason that a license was used
View warnings if you have exceeded the number of licenses purchased or users have access apps without a sufficient license

Groups now supported with pooled licensing

Limit the users of your pooled enterprise licenses to a group configured by an admin. Eligible users can be members from your verified domain(s) in a Google Group or a Microsoft Group. When configured, this setting grants an enterprise license to every member of the group, including groups within the selected group.

The following issues were fixed with Integration Connectors with AppSheet (preview):

Fixed a bug that displayed the Integration Connectors with AppSheet tab to all accounts. This feature is only available to AppSheet Enterprise Plus accounts and would return an error when attempting to create a service account. The tab is now hidden unless the account is subscribed to AppSheet Enterprise Plus.
Fixed a known issue when attempting to add an Integration Connector as a data source that contains arrays with unsupported data types. The connection would fail with the following error: Data table [tablename] is not accessible due to: Failed to Invoke Connector.
Now, the connections can be added as data sources and the array columns that contain unsupported data types (Geography/Date/Time) will return the data as strings.

Performance improvements for actions run on multiple rows

Addresses some performance issues with bulk application of actions within the app (via both multiple row selection and Ref actions that run another action on multiple rows). Previously running some actions in bulk led to higher total processing time than running each individually, in a way that worsened with increasing number of rows. This fix should address the scaling problem and also reduce the total time substantially for some actions in large tables.

This enhancement will be rolled out gradually. It is currently deployed to 100% of free users.

Enhancement	"Go to problem" for tasks will now open the broken task AppSheet provides "Go to problem" links for errors for many things that break tasks, but clicking this just takes you to the parent automation. This means you have to find the breaking task yourself. Now it will open the task you selected by default so you can find and fix it more easily.

If you edit a column name, you are now prompted to update the name in all places that it's used in the app. Though, you'll still need to manually update any column name variables used in template expressions that include the old column name. For more details and best practices, see the Column name property description in Column properties.
