Hi, I'm a newbie to the AppSheet. and wonder if it is possible to make an app version of The Holy Bible using API or a text-related DATABASE in AppSheet.? any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Appsheet has several supported datasources, but no, not just any API can be used as a data source. Think of Appsheet as another way to view rows of spreadsheets (records). While it would be possible to put the entire text of the Bible into a spreadsheet, said info might not fit well in a system set up to display records of data. A few issues I could see would be what exactly is a row (a verse or a chapter or a whole book) and specific formatting of text (like verse numbers) could be tricky to get right. Its not impossible, but I's suggest getting a hang of how Appsheet uses data sources by first playing around with a google sheet and determining what you want your rows to be.
@AppSeet_Bee - love your creativity brother! I think what Ferret said is accurate. With that said, the different views that Appsheet allows you to choose from I can see working well with what you want to accomplish. You might run into issues where certain views won't display the text in the exact format and outline as you wish, but it's completely doable. Ultimately, you might run into issues of it not being very user friendly.
Not sure the context of why you are wanting to create this, as I am sure there are plenty of apps (most likely free ones) that have already perfected what you are trying to accomplish. If you think otherwise, then go for it man! I've been able to do some pretty crazy things with Appsheet that I originally thought would be impossible, so give it shot and see what happens!
I had build one. It can search and reading by chapter and section. But I think it's really not friendly.
