Hello AppSheet friends,
I fear this is likely a very "Newbie" question, all the same I've not yet found a solution. I am attempting to create an EnumList in one column(A), using values from another(B). I would simply input the column(B) values as options, however they will likely be changing often. I am attempting to use Data Validity to present the users' options by using the following list expression "-- table_name[{column_name}] --". The expression assistant rejects the expression however, stating it cannot find the column. As a replacement, the expression requests the same column.
As you can see, in its reference to the existing column title (which it will is rejecting) it is shown in all caps. I'm not sure if it's trying to tell me something there, but as you can also see- I do not have it entered in the box this way. For the sake of trial and error I replaced the target column (Column(B)) with the titles of each other column in the table- same result.
I have had this issue rear its perplexing head on a couple occasions, any help you fine folks could offer would be greatly appreciated. An attempt at making it (Column(A)) a ref column aimed at the column(B) containing the values I need rendered a dropdown list with zero options. Likewise I have also referenced a slice with the information attaining the same result. I I have double checked that everything is spelled correctly, no ghost spaces tucked in somewhere. Not sure where else to go from here.
Thanks
S
I have had occasions where the expression assistant seemed to have been out of sync somehow with the app changes.
I would Save the column change, Save the app and refresh the Editor browser page...then check the expression again. If the error is still present, then dig a little deeper to what is causing the error. There IS some error just need to figure out what - sometimes the messages are not the best help!
