Cannot edit Labels in Slice Views

I create a Slice and create a Details view for it with all columns

I see all the columns for the record. When I attempt to edit the record I can change all the columns except the Label Column. It is grayed out as if I had “Editable?” turned off (it is not)

When I select to add a new record from the slice the label column is not present to accept input.

When I go to the table views I can see and edit the Label column just fine.

I looked through the support docs on slices and I did not see anything about this limitation.

Did I miss something or is this an expected behavior?
