Creative Solutions for showing chemical reactions?

Is there a way to link AppSheet to an external program?

I work in the R&I department for a chemical company, and built an app last year to help complete safety checks on non-routine laboratory processes that aren't related to chemical reactions (for example running a particle size analysis on a sample).

We'd like to extend the app to also feature chemical reactions and it would be nice if AppSheet could link to a program like ChemDraw.  More specifically, when a user fills out a form using the app, they could complete the section for the chemical reaction by accessing ChemDraw directly from Appsheet.

I suppose a workaround solution would be to create the reaction scheme in ChemDraw and save it as a JPG to a local server and then import that picture into a field for "pictures" in the app.

Anyone have other creative solutions?

Chemdraw has an API. You can use Google sheets and app script to act as a data intermediary between the API and appsheet.

Introducing the ChemScript API

ChemScript includes a ChemScript API reference guide. You can find the guide at Start>All Programs>ChemOf-office 2017>ChemScript 17.1>API Reference. It provides links and information for the ChemScript classes.

The ChemScript object model comprises two fundamental levels of functionality.

Thank you for this information.  Sounds like a viable solution.
