Hi,
I have the Desktop mode enabled for viewing the data from a pc - This looks good.
A form is running on a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (Windows 10). The form acts like a Parking Permit that auto prints permits, and after each form save the form reloads.
This form dosen't look good when desktop mode is enabled.
Is it possible to have that specific form view opening like if Desktop Mode was not enabled?
If not, I was thinking of creating one more app that refers to the same data. Then each of the apps could be configured with Desktop Mode on and off, right? Or I am overthinking this ๐
All the best
Without knowing all the details, but have you tried to change this option from the edit action?
Hi AleksiAlkio,
Thanks for your reply.
I found this yesterday https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/AppSheet-Q-A/Desktop-Mode-Form-doesn-t-match-Mobile-Form/m-p... but unfortunately not excatly fixed my problem.
Thanks again AleksiAlkio
I ended up creating one more app with reference to the same database.
One app with the form where desktop mode is disabled.
And another app with views where Desktop mode is enabled. It seems to work okay. Not super smart to have 2 apps I know, but it works for now ๐
Are you able to take a printscreen what the problem actually is? It would be interesting to know as now we can just guess.
Sure I will try.
With desktop mode enabled, I need to display the view like this:
The form is running as mentioned on a Surface (Windows) so, the form would ofcourse open as desktop mode also. But I need the form to open like if it was a tablet (iPad) with no icons etc on the left side, ONLY the form ๐
I created one more app so I can have them display in 2 different ways.
Now the form on the Surface is displaying the form like this:
I'm afraid that's not possible directly. But you could probably create your own deep link that could open just the form view.. though I have not tested. At least you can create an URL action that opens the form view only. But then it needs to open the app again first.. which means the same than the sync.
You can find out the URL like this.. write something like https://www.appsheet.com/start/YourAppID?platform=desktop#view=YourFormViewName. That will open the app only with the form view. Copy the URL to your action.
Thanks AleksiAlkio,
I did try few days ago with the link from the formview.
It starts by opening just how I want to, but after 2-3 seconds it's like the page refreshes automatically and goes back to Desktop mode view, like it is forced back.
Maybe I dont understand 100% what you say so maybe it is not exactly the same I tried a couple of days ago - I will give a try again when I have better time.
For now it works okay for me with the 2 apps pointing to the same database ๐
Thanks for all your help, tips, tricks and advices. I read this forum with pleassure and find a lot of helpful messages from you.
With the URL action I mean "open a website" action.
