Expression Assistant Text Box Size Limit? Why???

It would be nice to be able to resize the text box so it can fill my vertical screen size.

As it stands now, it's utilizing like 20% of the space.

  • It would be much more helpful we we could expand this to any size, that way if we have a large formula we can see more of it at once.

Totally agree. Some of the expressions can occupy much larger space than the space provided now, especially properly indented and formatted expressions.

Agreed!  I noticed this yesterday.  It is annoying for the larger expressions - for sure!!

Thats not good. ๐Ÿ˜•

@lizlynch ,

May we request you to take it up with the development team and address the issue on priority.

The reduction is expression assistant size will have a large scale impact.

There is another post with the same observation referenced below:

I agree. FYI the text box size will increase by ~50% if you reduce the Exampes/Data explorer panel.

Thank you @baba_sawane . That seems to be a respectable workaround. It of course still is short of the desired height in certain cases. But the workaround should be useful for maybe 50% of expressions.

@baba_sawane - Thank you for sharing that suggestion! I was going to mention that, as well.
@MultiTech @Suvrutt_Gurjar - I've raised this request to the team.

This update is AWFUL, it has been so annoying since yesterday, why would they even do this?

After more than a year of the launch of the "Improved Expression Assistant" it is not even close to be at par with AppSheet Toolbox.

How can appsheettraining.com solve trivial things like indentation so smoothly and the mighty Google, being the first party, just canยดt? I do not comprehend ๐Ÿคฏ

Likely nobody in or close to the development team actually develops apps of any significance with AppSheet, so nobody there feels the pain of these decisions. Add to that a support team that doesn't know the product and can't recognize legitimate problems reported by the user base.

It certainly feels like the decision making team does not use their own product for complexity beyond the public sample apps

Does that mean internal google team uses other app development platforms or third party apps ?

in the another post thread on the same topic, @wabrian has updated that there is a fix coming up today or tomorrow.

Please take a look at the last post in that post thread.
