File Type validation

Hi,

I need your expertise with an AppSheet formula to validate that an uploaded file is in the '.txt' format. I've tried several formulas, but none have provided the desired result:

  1. ENDSWITH([bulk_upload], ".txt")
  2. RIGHT(LOWER([bulk_upload]), 4) = ".txt"
  3. RIGHT([bulk_upload], 4) = ".txt"
  4. CONTAINS(LOWER([bulk_upload]), ".txt")

Unfortunately, these formulas are not working as expected. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

I believe that is currently not possible natively within AppSheet. I believe one reason that the valid_if does not work is that the AppSheet given file name is formed after the record is saved. This means within the form the file name is not available for validation.

There could be some not so user friendly workarounds such as described in the post thread below

I could also suggest another  workaround but that will be after the form is saved and overall configuration may not be ideal for user experience. Please let me know and I can share the approach.
