Google Drive Image with AppSheet?

Good morning, all. I am very new to AppSheet, a couple days to be exact. I am working on a couple of relatively simple apps to get my feet wet. The first portion is a directory of clinics with maps, contact info, etc.

The second is an employee directory, and here is where I am having trouble, We have employee photo already available in a shared Google Drive. I have temporarily set the share permissions to allow anyone with the link to view the files in the target directory.

I read this article

And have followed the steps to reformat the shared link per the article, so that

https://drive.google.com/file/d/XXXXXXXXXX/view?usp=sharing

becomes

https://drive.google.com/uc?export=view&id=XXXXXXXXXX

the link works in the spreadsheet andor browser, but not in AppSheet. Having a hard time figuring out what i might be doing wrong here.

Any pointers?
