Grouping by virtual column not working

I want to group items in a table view by a virtual column value which is an app formula MAXROW(), then the next grouping will be by spreadsheet set value column. When I select Group by [virtual column], it doesn’t group them and show all the entry as individual rows.

Is it because this virtual column is a calculation? Is there a workaround?

Are you sure it is not grouping the records? MAXROW() is going to return the same value for every record in the table, so they will all be grouped under that one header.

Also, when you group by one column you get this structure:
Grouping 1
record 1
record 2
record 3
Grouping 2
record 4

And only when grouping by more than one column do you not see the records until you click a grouping header to “drill down” into that grouping, a structure:
Grouping 1
Grouping 2

In other words, those two things put together, it might be hard to see that the grouping is actually working. You should 100% be able to group by a virtual column.
