How to enable geo-area capturing in AppSheet for agricultural mapping

Hi everyone,

I'm working on an app in AppSheet for the agricultural sector and need to enable the geo-area capturing feature to map farm areas directly. This would help us collect accurate georeferenced data for better farm management.

If anyone has experience enabling this feature, I would appreciate your guidance.

Thank you!

It might help to further clarify your needs.

I believe "geo-fencing" is the industry term you are referring to??  The idea is that certain functionality is triggered when a device enters a defined area specified by coordinates or maybe a certain distance from a point defined by coordinates.

AppSheet has the ability to capture a single point of coordinates using the the HERE() function.  And can calculate the straight line DISTANCE() between two sets of coordinates.  There is also an ability of applying KML map layers to map images to highlight areas.

But when it comes to managing a poly-area defined by geo-coordinates, you'll have to build that out on your own.

I do know of a former Community member who was working on geo-fencing functionality using Make integration services.  My understanding, last I spoke with him, is that he had it almost fully functional.  So, while AppSheet doesn't include this as a feature within the platform, there is possibility to construct such a feature yourself.

I hope this helps!
