Hi @lizlynch ,
The images in card view are rectangular rather than square with the width being much higher than the height ( please see excerpt from the article in the screenshot below) . As such, may I request you to mention the recommended image sizes in pixels for various options of the card view in the help article below
Card view type - AppSheet Help
The article below does mention that custom image sizes are recommended to be 600 X 600 pixels or other square sizes. However the images in card view tend more towards rectangular shapes.

Hi @Suvrutt_Gurjar ! This post reminds me of a tip a wrote a long time ago:
Pull Image column pics into LongText columns
The tip doesn't have anything about the specific issue you have raised but I also point to the lack of adequate documentation regarding images. We can display images in, of course, "image" columns, but also in "show" and "long text" (via HTML) columns, as well as some other contexts. This is all very complicated and I think the documentation is inadequate. The documentation should really be comparative, so that we can consider the pros and cons of various display methods.
By the way, the sample / template app I made for my "tip" can help one see how differently the same image looks in different contexts (via different column types or contexts):
Image hack
I should probably add card view to the app but don't have time for that now.
Thank you @Kirk_Masden for adding the relevant context post on image sizes.
