I'm having an issue where photos uploaded from an Image Type Column are displaying at a reduced size.
The attached screenshot is from Looker Studio data integration, and compared to the original size, it has become significantly smaller and is barely visible.
Previously, there was a dotted square icon in the top right corner that, when clicked, would display the image at the same size as the original screenshot.
Currently, there's a zoom icon in the top left corner, but it ignores the original size, making it meaningless.
Could you please restore it to the previous state?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I just checked and it appears to have been fixed, with images now displaying at their uploaded size.
I'd like to observe this a bit longer before considering this issue resolved.
Thank you to the development team!

Where is the image being viewed? How are your screenshots being uploaded in the app?
I am not seeing the same problem. Below are a couple examples of images - one taken by the phone and a second as screenshot selected on a desktop image list. It seems to be displaying in large size for me.
Could anything have changed about the Image Upload Size setting in your app?

I uploaded the Looker Studio screenshots to AppSheet with the "Image upload size" set to "Full". Previously, I could click the square icon in the top right to display them at full size in AppSheet. Of course, I could also read the text within them.
All images previously uploaded at Full size are now similarly displayed in reduced size. Before, I could use the square icon in the top right to view them at full size.
Currently, it appears the square icon in the top right has been removed, replaced by a zoom control in the top left. My guess is that this top-left control is not properly retrieving the image size. Related to this, when displaying an image in AppSheet and right-clicking to "Save image as...", you can download the original full-size image. This suggests the top-left control is not functioning correctly.
I tested with the following conditions:
For both modes, I tested by switching Settings > Views: General > Inputs > Image upload size between these three options:
In total, I uploaded images in 6 different patterns combining the 2 modes and 3 upload sizes.
I displayed the uploaded images in both desktop and mobile modes.
In mobile mode, the images displayed at a size relatively close to the uploaded size. However, since mobile screens are inherently small, image size is less of an issue.
The problem was in desktop mode. In desktop mode, the displayed images were significantly smaller compared to the uploaded image size. My PC resolution is 1920 × 1080. I've summarized the desktop mode display results below.
The issue is especially problematic in desktop mode when uploading with Image upload size set to "Full". While the image uploaded to Google Drive is the same size as the original (1920 × 1080), when displayed in AppSheet, it only shows at about 1/9 of the size(670 × 380). The top-left control doesn't function. You'll notice significant reduction in size with other patterns as well.
Mode of image upload | Image upload size | Image sizes uploaded to Google Drive | Displayed size in AppSheet |
Desktop | Default | 600 × 337 | 560 × 320 |
Desktop | High | 1600 × 900 | 560 × 320 |
Desktop | Full | 1920 × 1080 | 670 × 380 |
Mobile | Default | 600 × 800 | 240 × 310 |
Mobile | High | 1600 × 2133 | 650 × 760 |
Mobile | Full | 3024 × 4032 | 1060 × 1480 |
Based on these results, I suspect the new image display control library is not functioning correctly. The previous square icon in the top right could display images according to their actual size.
Could the development team please investigate this issue and, if they recognize the problem, implement a fix promptly?
We’re experiencing the same issue. The images in our gallery used to display full screen, but now they appear too small. We really hope this gets fixed soon.
We are experiencing the same thing. A few days ago that preview image screen changed. No longer can zoom in or out, and the magnifying glasses don't do anything. Specifically for us is the image on the detail pane that opens up on the right hand side for Map style views.
I just checked and it appears to have been fixed, with images now displaying at their uploaded size.
I'd like to observe this a bit longer before considering this issue resolved.
Thank you to the development team!
Nice! I just checked and I see the same thing. The preview image is larger however, before users could zoom in and out a bit on the images, and I am still unable to do so. I am hoping that comes back next. This is a much better spot though.
It seems it was fixed for a few days, but now started to happen again. Whoever fixed this has to please go back to the drawing board. Super frustrating!
The images are full screen now! The zoom is still an issue but it's very nice to know that someone is working on this. Thank you very much!

Since everyone has reported that this issue has been fixed, I will mark this problem as resolved.
Thank you for your cooperation!
pls unmark 🙂
