Implement a visual dashboard for a large dataset

Folks, I've (again) reached the limit of my creativity with Appsheet.  Hoping someone can offer inspiration.  I have a dataset which is a report of adult training.  It's pretty simple to identify overdue training from the data - all nicely flagged with accompanying dates.

I want to help managers interpret the data, drilling down to individuals so support can be given to complete training.  I have an idea of how I want this drill-down to work and think it should be possible to implement using an interactive Dashboard view and associated Gallery/Deck/Card views to step down through the data.  But, I've run out if inspiration to actually implement it.  Templates have been explored and the Q&A forum interrogated... but a way forward is elusive.  All I have so far is the single source data table.

Thank you in advance for your expertise...

Above, example of the data source.  "R" indicates training overdue (and "required").
Courses fall under two headings, without overlap: "Getting Started" and "MOGL" (mandatory ongoing learning) - this information is not (currently) encoded in the data.

Below is my mockup of what I'm hoping to achieve.
Select the OVERDUE category <Getting Started>, then the sub-category <GDPR>  and finally select and interact with an adult's training record.
