Initial Value of DateTime column =NOW() results in Excel formula "=NOW()" inserted in new row

Hi there, I could not find anything that covered this issue and would appreciate some advice. Thanks in advance.

Initial value of a datetime column on insert is set to NOW() in AppSheet.
The aim was to record the date and time (approx) of the insert of each row.

The data is stored in an Excel workbook.

When a row is inserted the Excel cell for the datetime value is set to the Excel formula โ€œ=NOW()โ€. Here, with formulae shown, is what was inserted.

This means that instead of getting a timestamp of roughly when the row was inserted, I get the same result in all rows, namely the current time as Excel sees it.

Iโ€™m new and am surely doing something stupid but Iโ€™m stumped. Grateful for any advice.

Do you have any entered into the Spreadsheet Formula?

Wich type is your column?
Is it really โ€œdatetimeโ€? Not โ€œtextโ€?

I was unable to test your problem
Regardless of the type of table fields and column settings in Scheet, I always get a value in the form โ€œdatetimeโ€
For a solution, you need to get additional information

Thanks for your rapid responses. Iโ€™m sorry for wasting your time. It was an Excel formula and because it is in an Excel Table/List it was propagated to new rows. A stupid error on my part. Thanks again for your help.
