Is it possible to add a Google Sheet file?

Hi,

It is possible to add a pdf file to a column of file type, or to open the added file by clicking on it.

Then, is it possible to add a Google Sheet file in Google Drive to a column of file type, or to open the added file by clicking on it?

Thank you.

I think this is a good option.

Yep, that's what the File column type is for.

Yep, that behavior is provided automatically.

I don't know, but even if you could, I doubt it would behave the way you want. You could, though, capture a Sheet's URL in a column of type Url. This would allow you to share Sheets.

@Steve, thanks for your reply.

I want to attach a Google Sheet file as a supporting document to a journal in my accounting system. So, it should not be changed after it is attached, and anyone who is logged in should be able to open the file. So, attaching it as a URL is not an option.

Thank you.

@leinharte , but you can set this GS-file as read-only on G-Disk and the share it as link over AppSheet.

The documentation of an accounting system's journals should be designed so that no user, including the journal author, can change the contents.

Thank you.

@leinharte , then why you need Google Sheet type in this case? You can export this file as PDF in any big page format and share like that.
Or set access rights in source file (you or someone who has such rights) and publish it directly from Google Sheet as read-only file of some another type file:

โžก๏ธGS / File / Share / Publish on the internet /  {CSV, TSV, PDF, XLSX, ODS}

Your suggestion doesn't seem to work for me.

Sometimes the file may have multiple sheets. And some of the users may want to download the file and reuse it.

It is also not easy to grant permissions to the file since the app users can change.

For now, I am thinking of downloading the Google Sheet as an Excel file and attaching it.

Thank you.

You can choose how will publish: full file or selected sheets.

hm... you wrote earlier:

You will receive a link in Google Sheets as I wrote above and will publish this link only in AppSheet. No users outside the app will have access to this link.

Ok, Excel file is also an option.
