Is this type of project possible for AppSheet?

Hello!

A student of mine introduced me to Appsheet yesterday as a potential option for developing an app I have been thinking about for awhile now.

It's difficult to express what I want exactly but here's the general thrust:

I teach singing lessons to people and would love it if I could develop some sort of resource database that I, fellow teachers, and students could access.

The idea is that for any given sound, or vocal technique, that someone wants to learn or be reminded of, they can consult this app and be directed to appropriate information stored within the app. So for example, I if I were working with a student on creating a airy, breathy, soft type of sound (something in the vein of Billie Eilish) then I could view an initial directory of various sounds/techniques which would allow me to then further elaborate on the specifics of the sound, which would then in turn allow me to see relevant information to achieve that specific sound.

So an initial page might look like :

Various Singing Sounds:

  • Belting
  • Falsetto
  • Subharmonics
  • Breathy
  • Husky
  • Yelling
  • Mixed Voice
  • Etc...

And then those sounds would be hyperlinked to another page containing specific information to that particular sound, for example:

Belting:

Definition: Belting is a subsidiary voice register that further specifies the modal register by only including sounds that fall within these three parameters:

1. High breath pressure

2. Sufficiently high pitch (above the "break")

3. Open vowel sounds

Then from here, the information numerated parameters could be hyperlinked to a page explaining what each of these things are.

I would also love the ability to include sound demonstrations within the app. So that someone could play a button for "belting" and they would hear what that sounds like.

This is really just the tip of the ice berg in terms of the information and the complexity that I want it to contain, but is something like this possible with AppSheet?

Thank you for reading this and for any advice.

Welcome to the community!

Be pleased 🙂 all what you describe can easily be done with AppSheet, taking into account:

  • Images: You can upload images in your app for example showing the different acoustics and resonance techniques, and display them natively within the app itself. AppSheet resizes the image nicely inside the app views, and user will have the opportunity to additionally click on the image and show it full sized.
  • Sounds: You can upload sound files through your app, but they are not going to be played natively. Instead, when a user clicks on a sound file, a new view will be opened in a browser to play the sound (same as viewing the contents of a pdf file).
  • Links: No problem.
