I abandoned AppSheet last year due to mp4s not playing on iOS (in safari, chrome or on the app). I saw the new โmobile frameworkโ excitement and thought maybe, just maybeโฆ. but no.
I just checked w chat help & thereโs still no way of playing an mp4 video (stored on google drive) in any way on iOS.
if anyone has made this work, Iโd love to hear more! Meanwhile Iโll continue developing elsewhere.
thanks for this but it's a method i have already tried in a test App. It does not work on IOS. Have also tried with a 'Show' type column instead of 'Video'.
I just gave it a try on iOs too. Obviously a bug. Did you try reporting this to support team?

i have & they didn't resolve it, hence why i abandoned my app.

@lizlynch you may want to escalate this internally?
just to confirm that it works fine on Linux & Windows browsers, just not on iOS (safari or chrome). On mac desktop os i believe Chrome works but not Safari.
Thank you for the escalation. Will there be any progress updates? Iโd love to revisit AppSheet again as I think itโs a great system but the iOS/mp4 issue prevented any further dev of my app.
I know only a little about mp4s/ios really but I do know that it's not true that all mp4s can be played on an ios device, they need to be specific codecs - https://www.easefab.com/mp4-tips/iphone-wont-play-mp4-solved.html. Not saying yours aren't but one vector that might be causing them not to work could be that.
the MP4โs play fine in Safari & Chrome browsers (on iOS) when I double click them in my google drive folder so I think the issue lies with AppSheet.
Just to add, they are low bitrate h264 video encodes with no audio tracks.
