Multiple users without deploy

Maybe it's a dumb question, but I couldn't find a good answer anywhere.
I shared a new app with +20 team members for testing, but I forgot to deploy it. Now I realized that all team members can use the app in prototype status. My question is: what's the point of deploying an app for non-bussiness purposes if they can use it in prototype status anyway?

Some features are only available to deployed apps.
