Hi Community,

I am having this particular issue with Microsoft. The last two weeks my app have stopped working (4th time today) because “Microsoft Cloud service is temporarily unavailable” as you can see in the photo attached. So I have discovered that when I do any change into the spreadsheet the app come back to normal. So Im actually not sure what is the problem there. Does someone has any idea?

Thanks in advance for your help.

@Harry Any thoughts about this issue?

Hi @Aleksi . Do you know who could help me with this issue? It has happened again this morning.

Thank you.

Are you using Excel/Office365 with your app? Is it possible that the Excel is opened by someone at the same time when you are using the app?

Yes, I am using Office 365.

I was not using the app the times it was down. The spreadsheet is shared with some collaborators and sometimes we have the spreadsheet opened at the same time but then again there has not been any problem when using it at the same time. This issue happens at random times and gets fixed when I do some type of change in the spreadsheet, like for example deleting a blank row.

@Alejandra_Petro Hi Alejandra, this error occurs when we send a request to read a spreadsheet to Microsoft, and then receive a response from Microsoft saying that there has been a temporary issue that prevents Microsoft from processing the request. The response from Microsoft normally contains only generic information about the issues, such as “the server is busy”, or “service unavailable”, which is not enough for us to exactly pinpoint the root causes of the issues.

However, it is possible that in your particular case, the problem might be related to the fact that there are frequently multiple users editing the spreadsheet at the same time. What is the usual number of users editing the spreadsheet at the same time? Do they open the spreadsheet in Excel online? Do they put the spreadsheet into edit more, or do they just open the spreadsheet in read-only mode? Do they save their changes regularly, or do they make a lot of changes before saving all of them at once?

When multiple users edit the spreadsheet at the same time without regularly saving their changes, multiple copies of the spreadsheet have to be maintained in multiple Microsoft servers. When you attempt to make additional changes to the spreadsheet through the app, Microsoft might run into trouble deciding which copy of the spreadsheet it should apply the changes to.

Could you ask your users to regularly save the changes that they make directly in the spreadsheet? Also, they should close the spreadsheet whenever they are not actively working on the spreadsheet.

I asked our developers to check the possible reason.

I’m having the ‘Microsoft Cloud Service’ connectivity issue today. Is anyone else seeing this? @praveen - was the ‘old API’ pushed out for everyone or just a portion of the platform? Out of my 10 production apps, this is the only one I’m having trouble with. Any ideas?

Thanks - Tim

Hi Tim,

Except of a handful of users with rare issues in their spreadsheets, all other users are now in the new API. Could you give us the exact error message that you saw? Also, please give us your account ID and the name of the affected apps?

Sorry for the slow response Tim. I was out on vacation and just back today.

I have added @Harry who may know more.
