Open google chat from sms or application

I am looking for a way to include a url to a google chat space. It works fine on desktop but on the phone it opens up the browser and with a notice to install the google chat app. Is there a way to bypass that or better yet open the google chat app?

Possibly.  There is typically a question asked if the user wishes to continue to the browser version.  It may be that there is a parameter that can be included in the URL that automatically forces that navigation to the browser.  I would search to see if there is a parameter you can use in the URL.

Be warned that the reason for attempting to install the mobile device version of the tool is that it provides better user experience.  Depending on the default browser used on the device, the tool may not render well making it difficult for the user.
