Hi! I have an app with the Video type column. I've successfully been able to embed a YouTube video as well as a video on the Google Drive using the relative file path.
This works great on both browser and Android versions of Appsheet. However, on an iPhone, the videos do not display 😕 . Neither the YouTube or the video from the Google Drive. The video from the Google Drive displays gray with a line through the play icon. The video embedded from YouTube displays nothing in the iPhone version of the app.
I am running the latest version of Appsheet (iOS version 15.2).
Is there a security setting on the iPhone that would block videos from loading in Appsheet?

@SkrOYC I was thinking that will be my next step, but figured I'd check in with the community first to make sure I'm not missing something simple.
I've done lots of advanced work with Appsheet, but never actually used the simple embed video feature yet. haha.
iOS has always been a pain
@SkrOYC Yes... this hasn't been my first issue with iOS errors only. I have to say that Support fixed one of the issues I identified super quick in the past.
@SkrOYC and anyone else, I just got off of chat with Appsheet support. They are aware of this issue and working on it.
The root cause is and issue with iOS blocking the videos from playing 😞
You need to login with Apple account and Google account , etc...for Right device and have you update to 16 on Apple or the Beta series 16 or 17.and update all the apps.
Is it fixed yet ?
Yes...I'm looking for the same solution. @SkrOYC - did you get a solution
This issue is still not resolved on my end,. This is the only stopping me from using Appsheet further.
Same
The issue still persists. Its mostly something to do with iOS permissions
Hi, any update in this matter? I have an app in which I put a lot of materials in the form of youtube embeded videos, and on iphone they do not play at all 😕 .
@ADRN for now I link to the video and it opens... but I can't embed it in the Appsheet video player.
I just copied this app template and I was amazed because just pasting the embed link never worked on my app. I guess I will try again 🙂
Hello every one:
¿Have somebody find the way to make functional the videos from YouTube in a mobile device? I have the same problem and I can't resolve.
It works good in the Appsheet App opened from a browser but never work directly when is opened from a mobile device,
Hello, any updates as for November 2023?
Has this been resolved yet?
Thanks,
For me, embedded videos still don't open on iOS!
I think I'll open another support ticket
Was this solved actually for real?
Not working on my iPad either. Added an action for opening URL. :v/
this is taking a long time to resolve? No video on iOS app is really holding me back. Any updates?
No change.
I believe there's no such problem if they access the app through the browser. This can be done by using the desktop link available on the "Copy sharing links" at the "Share" feature.
still not working for me i'm afraid.
I have mp4's in my project which display correctly on windows/linux browsers.
Loading the same app url on ipad/phone (using chrome or safari) just displays a play icon with a slash through it. If anyone has an app with video displaying in iOS i'd love to see how you're doing it!
Oh it certainly is a problem all right, and a bug! 😞 I don't understand why AppSheet Dev's don't respond? Is it because Apple's API doesn't allow embedding or what?
It does work in Chrome (for me), if set for desktop view, but it should work as an app. It's missing functionality IMO.
i have an open case with support but it's been dormant for months.. i just messaged t hem again but not holding much hope.
Interesting you can get it working in chrome though.. is that on an ios device? (and playing mp4's on your drive?)
Yes. iOS 16.7.10, iPad 5th gen. Safari and Chrome work, most recent versions AFAIK. But still, it needs to work in an app.
Ooops, didn't answer all your questions...
No, not mp4's - straight YouTube links. I just tested with an mp4 file in Drive that have, and that doesn't work anywhere - app on phone (Android Samy S23) or iPad.
hmm.. i have ipadPro 5th gen & older iphoneX, both running ios 18.1.1
Chrome v131.0.6778.134
neither is able to display video in chrome or safari. Agreed it also needs to work in the App but i'd take anything right now!
This is what I see trying from Drive...
ah ok. yes, i can play youtube embed links in the browser but not in the app on iOS.
Unfortunately my mp4's need to be on my drive (pathed correctly from in the appsheet root) - and they will not play at all on iOS. So I think we have the same issues.
