Welcome Duet AI for Appsheet: Generative AI to create Apps with our favorite tool

Hello everyone!

I am super excited about Google's announcement today for the new Duet AI for Appsheet! ๐Ÿ˜

This is a screenshot that gives an idea about how it works:

You can watch the Duet AI for Appsheet presentation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9thyji4QRa8

Here is the full Google I/O presentation and demo for Appsheet new features: https://io.google/2023/program/ee630712-ab1a-47ba-8015-e08a1d7cb343/

I am not a software engineer, so I have been testing Openai ChatGPT4 and other generative AIs to improve my development skills and results, in various code and no-code environments, including for Appsheet. I was missing something specific like Duet AI for Appsheet seems to be and I am super "anxious" to try it out :). If you are like me, ask for early access here: https://cloud.google.com/ai/earlyaccess/join?hl=en

and read more here: https://cloud.google.com/blog/products/application-modernization/introducing-duet-ai-for-google-clou...

Have you already experienced other AI generative solutions (like Quora Poe, ChatGPT...) and found exciting ways to drastically improve the development time and quality of your apps?

Has anyone had early access to Duet AI and would like to share their impressions?

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts

Hi @franc !

Thanks for sharing. I've also tested chatgpt3 with appsheet a few weeks ago, more to see what it's really about and what are its potential benefits than to improve the development time nor the quality. But I enjoyed the idea.

Hope to see all of these in the Duet AI Appsheet features.

I can't find it anywhere in appsheet.. Where should I look?

@Ratatosk as far as I know, this is not generally available yet. You can sign up for early access though

@franc Thank you franc!

How to sign up for the early access?

News to me!

(That's nothing new)

Welcoming new upgrades. But is it actually useful ? Simple applications Yes. How about Complex apps ?
I think maybe google should focus on developing AI for fixing bugs in fastest way possible.

I believe fairly complex application can be developed using AppSheet. And the development time will be a fraction of what is needed using coding.

Your point about debugging tool is valid. Eitherr Google or other software vendors will develop such tools and they will be extremely useful. Some tools to assist in coding are already developed like Codium, Codex,  Replit GhostWriter, which you may be already knowing. If not, you can try them.

I know complex applications can be developed using appsheet and I have done it too. I am talking about the AI.

I wish appsheet take decisions to fix bugs sooner like before utilising these technologies.

I am a fan of "start with an idea" so I am excited about the Duet AI for AppSheet announcement. I've signed up for the tester program and can't wait to try it out.

In the short term, I will be preparing a prompt that will serve as a template so that the AI can correctly understand my request.

"Tables XXX, YYYY; Views AAA, BBB; Actions CCC, DDD..."

But here's a thought that occurred to me.
I thought that this collection of directives that can be understood by compute resources without misunderstanding is generally called a "CODE".๐Ÿ˜†

This is a joke, of course, and I look forward to the further expansion of AppSheet.๐Ÿค—

I have been using ChatGPT for a few months now and realized right away that it would make me MUCH more proficient at my job as a Product Owner and as a programmer.   I have been able to create applications that I never understood how to even start building just by asking the right questions.  Now I am building apps combining appsheets, app scripts and chatGPT 4 that are truly game changers.  I do not expect Duet to build apps for me but I am sure it will help point me in the right direction on projects that I would have never dreamed of tackling before and the holy grail for me will be when I can create a system that truly understands projects that I am working on by tying together data from Jira, Confluence, Figma and so on.  I can feel that this is right around the corner.
Most recently I built an appsheets app that pulls all of my Jira tickets in and provides hints for Epic tasks, acceptance criteria and interprets errors for debugging.  This has changed my life as a product owner.

Hi
Is  Duet available yet im very keen to try it out. Will it only be available to subscription users ?

Hey Everyone,

I have applied to the trusted tester program however haven't heard anything for over a week. What is the usual wait time?

It was said the feature could be avaialble in few weeks time ranges.

New duet AI as well as new feature with Appsheet/Google Docs introduced during the session is surely interested. However, out of my honest opinion, not really meeting with the needs from the appsheet users....

The feature request thrown to the community category never gonna happen. Google is pushing new feature which is believe to be "awesome" but not much of the user will be interested, while the tiny appsheet users would welcome to fit the nitch needs.

Duet AI?  It should be enhancing the existing feature of "Create app from idea". yes, it is great. But what is going to be change is ANY APP CREATOR NEED TO LEARN APPSHEET DEEPLY.

Once the Duet AI create the app out of the "conversation", then the app being created is a "base line". User need to cutomized it. Without knowledged (extensive) over AppSheet, the app users can not work on such a base line app.

For commercial reasons, I know Google exaggrate the power of coming Duet AI features, but we all the app creators need to be aware we still need to learn the platform to create app exactly what we need.

The thing I did not like to see through the demonstration was the app generated out of AI was generating data inside Appsheet data base by default.... I will not use AppSheet database for sure, even I m on the enterprise plan.  Not sure if not or we will have option to create new apps out of AI with Google sheet as data source...
