What are the expected average Sync times?
First, I know that there are a lot of variables that affect Sync time.
But there has to some idea of an average.
Soโฆ
I have a MySQL database hosted on DreamHost.
Running an app pulling in about 3500 records with 50 columns each,
I am seeing a sync time of about 8-9 seconds as observed in the AppSheet online editor.
Similar timing when running the app in test mode from devices.
Server caching doesnโt seem to make a difference (actually seems slower)
Question:
Is 8-9 seconds a reasonable expectation in sync time of a data set this size?
I donโt want to spend time fine tuning if it is not expected to get more performance out of it.
Thanks!
As you said in your post, there are lot of variables that have an affect for your sync time. If you donโt have any virtual column to calculate, I would expect little smaller sync timeโฆ like 5โฆ6 sec. With the gSheet the sync time is about that 7โฆ8 sec (tested) where as the SQL is normally little quicker.
@Aleksi_Alkio Thanks!
You are always helpful.
As FYI to anyone reading,
I did trim the ~50 columns down to 31.
Sync times are now showing 4-5 secs.
This is while running on a Sat morning at 7 am EST (in case AppSheet user load plays a part in overall Sync time).
Iโll retest at a more normal load time and record the results here.
Did you check the Performance profile as well?
No, I didnโt.
I can definitely see where that is very useful for deployed apps to monitor performance with users.
