Good folks; I am a new skills boost student hosting a static website on GCP with a storage bucket using HTTP(S) Load Balancing [set up based on the GCP tutorial of the same name]. It was a great tutorial that helped me make my first website but with a $ surprise. The project is occurring over $18 / month under project resource "Compute Engine"! There was no VM instance setup in the GCP tutorial [??]. I can not determine the compute engine instance type used from billing - cost analysis records. Is there a way I can choose a small or f1-micro for a more economic VM instances to host my static website? thanks; pfrankwicz
The static web site hosting does not require a compute instance resource. I suppose your charges are related to a different resource that your using other than for creating static website. Check out this simple example to understand the pricing for creating static website using cloud storage: https://cloud.google.com/storage/pricing-examples#simple
