How to Programmatically Upload Data Steward Information in Dataplex Glossaries?

Hi everyone,

I am working with Google Cloud Dataplex and would like to programmatically upload Data Steward information for terms in the Business Glossary. Currently, I don’t see a direct way to achieve this via APIs.

• Is there an API or method to bulk assign Data Stewards to glossary terms in Dataplex?
• If no direct API exists, are there any workarounds (e.g., metadata tags, labels, or custom attributes) to achieve this programmatically?
• Does Google Cloud have plans to introduce API support for managing glossary term owners, stewards, and governance roles?

I need to automate the process instead of manually assigning Data Stewards via the Google Cloud Console. Ideally, I’d like to upload this information from a structured source like a CSV file or an external metadata system.

Any insights, recommendations, or alternative approaches would be highly appreciated. Thanks!

Currently, Dataplex Glossaries doesn't offer a direct API for programmatically assigning or managing "Data Stewards." Manual assignments through the Cloud Console are an option, but they aren't practical for automation. You could consider workarounds like using metadata tags, labels, or custom attributes, or keep an eye out for any updates on potential API support.

Regarding the use of Dataplex Glossaries and Data Catalog API enhancements, particularly concerning metadata management and governance roles, I suggest filing this as a feature request.
