Gmail API reply to a mail

Hi,

I am using Gmail API to send a message to a recipient. I want to reply to a particular message like we do in Gmail Mailbox. 

I went through the documentation which says to copy the References, In-Reply-To headers of the mail I want to reply but I can't find these headers in all the mails.
