I would like to know about the ID contained in user_pseudo_id.

From reading the documentation, I recognize that user_pseudo_id is to get the temporary ID of the user.
I am getting device_id with user_pseudo_id.

Here, device_id refers to what you can get from your web browser, which is the numeric part of the value [ GA_xxxxxxx.xxxxxxx ].

This ID cannot be used to identify an individual. I would like to prove that this is the case.
Can we use the GCP service to identify an individual or can Google Inc. identify an individual?

Device IDs are unique identifiers assigned to devices, including mobile devices, computers, and other connected devices. They are typically generated by the device manufacturer and cannot be changed by the user. It's important to note that not all apps and websites access or use device IDs. Their usage depends on the permissions granted and the platform's policies. Device IDs are used by apps and websites to identify the device and track its activity.

While device IDs cannot be used to identify an individual on their own, they can be used to track a user's activity across different apps and websites, especially if the user is not logged in to any accounts. This can be used to create a detailed profile of the user's interests and habits.

Google Analytics primarily uses a client ID (stored in a cookie) to distinguish users on websites. This is different from a device ID generated by a device manufacturer. For mobile app tracking, Google Analytics for Firebase might use different methods. However, Google also uses other factors, such as user ID (if available) and Google signals, to create a more complete picture of the user.

Google has stated that it does not use device ID to identify individuals. However, while Google may have the capability to combine data from various sources, it adheres to strict privacy policies and regulations to ensure user data protection. Other Google services, such as Google Ads, may use device IDs for different purposes, such as targeting users with relevant ads.

Here are some ways to protect your privacy from being tracked by device ID:

  • Reset identifiers like the Advertising ID (on platforms that support it).
  • Use a VPN to hide your IP address.
  • Regularly review and manage app permissions on your devices to control which apps have access to certain data.
  • Use incognito or private browsing modes to reduce tracking.
  • Be careful about what information you share online.
