Is Cloud SQL for MySQL free after trial?

Is Cloud SQL for MySQL free?  Or will there be any costs incurred after the free trial period? All I need is one database with max 10 tables.

After the trial period, Cloud SQL for MySQL is not available for free. However, if your requirements are limited to a single database with a maximum of 10 tables, you should be able to operate within the confines of the free tier.

The free tier includes:

  • A single Cloud SQL instance with a maximum of 1 vCPU and 3.75 GB of memory.
  • 20 GB of storage.
  • 100 GB of network traffic per month.

If your usage surpasses these limits, you'll be billed for the extra resources consumed. The pricing for Cloud SQL for MySQL is contingent on the type of instance selected, the memory utilized, and the storage consumed.

For instance, if you opt for a basic instance with 1 vCPU and 3.75 GB of memory, the charges will be $0.0413 per vCPU-hour and $0.0070 per GB-hour. Therefore, if your instance runs for 100 hours in a month, the cost will be $4.13 for the vCPUs and $7 for the memory.

You also have the option to commit to a certain level of resource usage for a year, which will qualify you for a discount on the cost of those resources.

So, with just one database and a maximum of 10 tables, you should be able to operate within the free tier limits. However, if your resource needs increase, you'll be billed for the additional resources consumed.

Please be aware that the actual cost may vary, and it's advised to refer to the Google Cloud SQL Pricing page  for the most current and precise information.

Hello,

is this still accurate? I can see that this was answered quite recently on 07-12-2023 but as of today I cannot see this in the link  Google Cloud SQL Pricing page that you posted. Did this already change or am I missing something?

Hi @MarekV22 ,

Yes,  the pricing in the link you provided contains the latest costs for both Enterprise and Enterprise Plus editions of Cloud SQL.

Thank you for a quick answer.

But is the: free tier includes:

  • A single Cloud SQL instance with a maximum of 1 vCPU and 3.75 GB of memory.
  • 20 GB of storage.
  • 100 GB of network traffic per month.

still valid? I was not able to find it in the link provided. So I'm not sure if the Cloud SQL is included in the free tier or not.

Google Cloud provides new users with $300 in complimentary credits to explore the capabilities of Cloud SQL (free tier Only). By creating an account, you can assess Cloud SQL's performance in practical situations.

Please note that after the trial period or if you upgrade, Cloud SQL for MySQL will no longer be available for free.

Is the restriction confined to each project individually?

Thank you for this information. It helped me a lot.
