Why is file transfer being treated as denial of service attack

Hi, I have a computational instance using GPUs that are processing large video files.  When I transfer the video files off the instance, I get a warning from GCP that my instance is flagged as creating a denial of service attack and I have to file an appeal to prevent the instance from being suspended.  I've added monitoring, checked logs, added Flow, ... but still get this situation.  It is a modest outbound transfer to box.net, but not outrageous.  Any suggestions?

When I ask in the appeal what's up, they just point me back to the timestamp when the "incident" occurred which seems exactly when I'm doing the outbound transfer.  I tell them this is purposeful, but they have suspended the project anyway.  I'm a student and so can't afford the high-end support.  Is there something else I should do. I really need the cloud GPU to complete my project and this is incredibly frustrating to have my project constantly threatened for suspension for doing exactly what it is supposed to do.

It is a Debian instance with nothing fancy. It does run X-windows and I am using spot instances (to save cost).  Instance is only up 6-8 hours at a time.

Hi @buster3090,

Welcome to Google Cloud Community!

I understand your frustration that you need to use the Cloud GPU to complete your project. However, Google takes violations of its policies and Terms of Service (ToS) very seriously to safeguard users, resources, and data.  Google Cloud projects may be suspended due to violations of the Google Cloud ToS, including the Google Cloud Acceptable Use Policy.

You can refer to this Project suspension guidelines which details how violations of the Terms of Service can affect access to your Google Cloud resources and provides best practices for quickly recovering from a Google Cloud project suspension.

You can also check this Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document, which contains answers about Google Cloud policy violations.

I hope the above information is helpful.
