Help with aggregating dates into months

I track all my expenses with a date column (yyyy-mm-dd).
How can I view a chart that sums all of my expenses per month?

For example:

my data looks like this

date	amt
2022-01-01	15
2022-01-14	5

I need Looker to show a chart that interprets the data this way

year / month	amt
2022 January	20
