Scatter Plot color not working

I am trying to make a scatter plot in looker that mimics what is happening in Looker Studio - but I can't get the bubbles in Looker to be different color based on the dimension I am using.

Ignore the fact that data isn't matching - the looker dashboard should have different color bubbles as the dimension has 1 row per item...pivoting didn't appear to work either

I have 3 measures and 1 dimension - X/Y axis are measures and the sizing of the bubbles is based off the 3rd measure - thanks again!

Hi @ryanalban, thank you for your post!

It's a bit difficult to know for sure what could be happening on the Looker side, but it looks like you only have one series on the visualization, Total Revenue. In Looker, you can customize the color of each series, or measure,  in the visualization (reference: Scatterplot chart options documentation page). That means that the measure you are using will be the value the visualization is colored by.

I wonder if you could try using the chart config editor, following some of the examples on the Conditional formatting customization in Cartesian charts Cookbook page. More information about the chart config editor can be found on the Customizing visualizations using the Chart Config Editor documentation page.

I also recommend adding a +1 or submitting a feature request to let our team know that you would like to be able to color scatter plot bubbles by dimension, rather than by series (measure). You can submit the details of your use case and feature request by using our Pendo app!

Thanks so much for your response.  I have 1 dimension (segment) which I was hoping would be represented as difference colors.  Both the x and y axis are measures (total rev / total orders) and the sizing of the bubbles is based on a 3rd measure called 'total customers'.  All of this is visible in the tooltip when you hover, but I can't get the dimension (segment) to show as difference colors with a legend....so strange
