Enable Overwriting Existing Data with Duplicate IDs for Enhanced Data Navigation and Relationship Ma

Dear AppSheet Community and Development Team,

I've been deeply appreciating the flexibility and power that AppSheet provides in creating functional and effective apps for data management.

However, during my experience, I found a potential improvement that could greatly aid in data navigation and managing complex relationships.

In my specific case, I'm dealing with a large table where the name column, which I'm using as an ID, contains hundreds of entries. It would significantly improve my workflow if I could just rewrite an existing name (ID), rather than having to search through a lengthy list to find and modify it.

This would allow me to easily access the data and any referenced children related to it. Furthermore, this functionality would enable us to overwrite constraints that may be preventing data from showing in a specific slicer. In essence, it would allow users to access and modify their data in a more intuitive and efficient manner, especially when dealing with large datasets.

While I fully understand the reasons behind the current unique ID design – to ensure data integrity and prevent accidental duplication – I believe offering an option to overwrite existing data using duplicate IDs could provide enhanced flexibility for certain use cases. Of course, such an option should come with clear warnings about potential data loss and confusion, to ensure users are making informed decisions.

Currently, I'm achieving a similar functionality through a combination of actions and workflows, but an integrated feature would greatly streamline this process.

If this resonates with other AppSheet users who find themselves in similar situations, I kindly request the AppSheet development team to consider implementing this as an optional feature in a future update.

I am eager to hear your thoughts and feedback on this suggestion.

Thank you for your continued commitment to improving AppSheet, making it a more powerful and user-friendly platform.

I think you should give some concrete examples of what you want to do, how you're doing it now, and how your feature request would improve on it.

From your initial description, I'm not sure why you can't just use the search feature the find the existing record to edit.
