Dear AppSheet Team,
I want to suggest a few improvements to enhance the user experience and data reliability, especially for mobile users:
Always Load a Default View on App Launch
Currently, AppSheet only allows setting a default view when a user first opens the app. However, on subsequent launches, the app often restores the last open view, which can lead to confusion or outdated context. It would be extremely helpful if we could force the app to always open a specific default view (e.g., UserSettings, Home, or any configured view) every time the app is launched.
1. Can automatically or be modified to reset UserSettings on App Close
Having the option to reset UserSettings when the app is closed would ensure that users always start with a clean state, especially when dealing with temporary filters or user-based configurations.
2. Improve Auto-Sync Reliability on Mobile Devices
Even with “Sync on start” and “Quick sync” enabled, we’ve observed that many users, particularly iPhone users, do not routinely close or manually sync the app. This often results in outdated data being displayed or updates not being pushed to the user’s device.
A potential solution would be to allow the app to automatically sync after a certain idle period or re-sync in the background when re-opening the app after inactivity.
2. Improve Data Validation to Prevent Duplicates
AppSheet currently performs data validation only during sync or add actions, and it seems to validate only against local memory/cache, not the latest server data. This leads to a high risk of duplicate rows or overwritten data, especially in multi-user environments. We would greatly benefit from a more robust mechanism that validates against live server data before writing.
These enhancements would significantly improve usability, data integrity, and user satisfaction, especially in real-time collaborative environments.
