Yes this would be so helpful to be able to create our own GPS driven analytics and route verification.
1 min is great but probably even more than we’d need. 5-10 min would def do the job and maybe could further save data by only logging when the location has actually materially changed from the last entry.
Hey app hive mind, I’m currently building a custom Android app to resolve this. If you’d like to hit me up, I’d be happy to show you how it works. I’m still building it out, and working out bugs, but I’d be happy to show off what I have.
Basically, you can send the app geofence information and it gets stored on your device and triggers as you enter/exit the geofence. I also have it where the device location updates the backend database every minute. You can build a scenario to flow that to update a location of a user, I’ve done it while building.
The app functions and I have custom integromat modules to make it easy to integrate.
I’m hoping to release the app in the play store, and the modules released to the public on integromat in a couple of weeks.
If you want to try it out I can share the APK and invite you to use my private integromat modules.
I'm just looking into AppSheet for the first time (and slightly kicking myself for not having looked more into it earlier, it probably would have saved me from gaining many grey hairs). Anyway, in my use case, one thing that I would need is either rather up-to-date gps location updates, or failing that, triggers when geofence is either entered or exited.
I'm therefore very curious in your app that you mention. DId you progress further with it?
Bummer to see nothing planned here. We do capture user GPS on every form submission so end up getting a lot of rich and useful GPS data that way. Next we need better ability to process that info with more fluency between GPS->Address and better ability to then relate/calculate distances from submitted GPS to nearest customer.
