Keep settings the same when slice based on same table is substituted in view

I sometimes copy a view in one table to make a similar one basic on another slice of the same table.  However, when I switch my slice, all of the settings are lost and I have to start over.  So, I propose that, when a slice is based on the same table that settings be maintained as the default when copied.  Thanks!
