To enable the scalable use of BigQuery (BQ) as a data source within large organizations and expand the adoption of AppSheet across various scenarios, I would like to suggest a critical enhancement for BigQuery integration.
Currently, it is only possible to share a BigQuery data source with the group to which the account belongs. This limitation makes it challenging to manage data governance, as it requires multiple admin accounts, each responsible for a separate data source for each group.
Suggested Improvement: Introduce a feature allowing a single account (e.g., Org Admin) to create multiple BigQuery data sources and share them with different teams. Alternatively, enable users to connect to BigQuery using their own credentials, similar to how AppSheet handles Google Sheets. In this case, the AppSheet app would identify the user's BigQuery permissions and allow access to the relevant data in the application.
This improvement would simplify governance, enhance scalability, and align the BigQuery integration with existing practices for other data sources like Sheets.
